Hello, and happy new year! I am doing dry January this year, as even a couple of drinks are not helpful to my mood. It will be nice to relax and unwind and not go to the pub either, as the stress of Russia’s war against Ukraine has made me feel extra anxious among crowds. Having said that, I have missed Ukrainian horilka (vodka), especially the peppery kind, and have been creating some shots that mimic it for my friends, my sick friends especially.
They loved them, so here’s the recipe, for which you will need:
- Your favorite vodka. If you can’t get your hands on Ukrainian horilka, and most people cannot right now, go with Ketel One or Grey Goose. Tito’s is perfectly good too (and is underrated). Belvedere is fantastic. NO RUSSIAN VODKA ALLOWED.
- Your favorite hot sauce. I go for a medium one that I normally use in Bloody Marys.
